Nature Scavenger Hunt

During our 'Garden' week for tot school last week, my favorite activity was taking a Nature Scavenger Hunt walk by the lake. This was supposed to be part of our 'Toddler Art Tuesdays' with my sister and her daughters, but we forgot to take the art stuff with us. Oh well...maybe next time!

I whipped up a scavenger hunt sheet the night before our walk. I was too lazy to type up the words for each picture, but I think the kids survived anyway. I put the sheets in a page protector and stapled some dot stickers to the protector. As the kiddos found an item, they could put a sticker over that picture. (you can save this jpg if you want to use this too!)

About halfway through our walk, John and Bella lost interest in the scavenger hunt. They lasted longer than I thought! We walked a very short distance, but it took FOREVER with two toddlers! John likes to stop to pick up a pebble every five seconds and then wants to run back and forth over the bridge twenty times. I think we walked about 1/2 a mile total and it took us about 45 minutes. Those two kids were just taking in all the nature they could handle, I guess! :)

Here are some pictures of the two explorers, along with baby Matthew and baby Lilly who enjoyed the walk in a comfy stroller!

I link up to these parties!

  1. Scavenger hunt adventures I am impressed. I don't think Ive met anyone who knows as much about this subject as you do. You are truly well informed and very intelligent. You wrote something that people could understand and made the subject intriguing for everyone. Really, great blog you have got here.
